ic. The brilliant orb hung high in the heavens, scorching the land with its heat, bringing energy to the cactus plants. Soaking in the rays, the foliage seem more alive, especially with a creek running by, the sounds of riddle being quite soothing to the sand dunes. It wasn't completely bared though in the desert. The few plants were able to spread its seeds, reproducing more collections of the life that drift in the dead winds.
Those dying winds brought forth a scent, a smell of a small fennec fox that was familiar to the dunes. He was able to be seen a couple of feet from the area, his slender body curving round, making his way to the small riddle. Teal optics were wincing from the blistering light that twiddle down to him, those long ears of his pressed against his skull.
Shomari's bodice was a sandy-golden pelt with ivory underparts, and a dark-dipped plume. His short legs carried him far from home, being weary and aching were no surprise for the male. He hesitated before a stream a nose sniffing into the liquid.
His crania lowered to the creek, his pink flesh lapping up the cool liquid. His muscles relaxed when laying in the small riddle, feeling the sensations of his coat cooling down from the moving blue. Rolling on his back, Shomari sun bask in the brilliant ray's of the sun, his stomach drying from the water. His paws hung up, furry pads facing down to the earth, his neck toasting. He seemed a bit too comfortable even in the sun's heat, but his family lineage were born and adapted to these harsh conditions so it was like a walk in some woods.

Her big paws hit the ground and her eyes scanned the dessert she had found herself in "Geez why in the world an i here?" Kiara asked her self scanning the dessert it wasn't the same one she found Gil in because the faint sound of a creek was audible. Her ears perked at that sound and she walked towards it. her paws left big tracks in the wind rippled sand and the heat was unbearable being used to it since she grew up in a savanna it was nothing new except for the lack of shade, food, and water. She found the water leaned over and lapped it up it was refreshing and it cooled her off a little bit. She put her paw in the water and rubbed it on her head to help her cool off a little more. Her ears perked at a new scent she had picked up. She raised her head to see what was lurking about and saw a small fox.
She watched at the animal made his way to a different part of the creek "hm will he be a friend or will he be my snack?" she asked herself the fox would be satisfying but she wasn't so keen on taking the life of and animal in it's own environment and she didn't really belong in a dessert. Regardless the Lioness made her way to the small fox sat down behind him and said "Nice to have cool water close huh?" she wanted to be friendly despite her hunger but she would just find a hare or a jack rabbit. She dipped her pa in the water again and rubbed it on her head, it was very hot so she just got her head wet to stay cool since no shade was near and then she turned her attention back to the fox.

ic. Shomari's limped paws remained in the dry air, the toes wiggling to enjoy the heat that were absorbed into his dark pads. He was starting to pant a bit, but he was comfotable and settles in his spot. He bet, at night, it would be the warmest area in the desert. Why? Well, when living in the sandy dunes, you learn to observe and what Shomari had caught was that during the heated day, the water gets warmed up. Then at night, the same liquid is the same temperature as the day was, warming up any animal during the cold nights.
He was a bit cocky in knowing this small bit of information, and being cocky makes it go to his head as he is the most intellectual fox in the world. That boosts his ego to no end, unfortuantly. He snickered quietly to himself, about to drift off to a nap, but suddently, he heard someone.
"Nice to have cool water close huh?"
He didn't want to open his eyes. Except, he did even though he couldn't see that well with the sun blinding his gems. He groaned in distaste and flipped over on his stomach, shaking his pelt. Now, with a better veiw, he caught the large form of the lioness, Kiara. His law had to drop and his legs began to shake, knowing he was shit out of luck of escaping this strong predator.
He took a large and hard gulp before speaking. "Um... yeah? Wait, huh?" Shomari was to scare to comprened the simple question from the huge, fast, and hungry lioness. His wide gaze couldn't let go of Kiara, even if he tried. "I-I..." he shuddered to speak again, only to almost lose his balance and faint, but he was able to hold his body up.

Kiara was still looking at the fox when had opened his eyes still on his back he didn't seem scared of her that was until he got up. Kiara simply smiled at him he was puny compared to her he has his tail tucked and his legs were shaking like leafs in a breeze. All Kiara did to his responses was giggle she decided not to eat him he looked like he was lovin' life before she popped up "Pfft may as well eat a rabbit" she told him "I am not gonna eat you" she paused "Unless you want me to eat you" she laid down to come face to face with the fennec fox "So whats the name foxy?" she asked him and rolled over on her back "And if you know where a warren of rabbits live I'll be fine and if you don't then" she paused she was acting big and mean yes she was big but she wasn't mean just a little cocky "If you don't I'll have to cope with it until i get outta here" she said And stood back up.
"Ok foxy fox here's the deal you help me I'll help you. Sound good?" Kiara was going to need help since she knew nothing about this area so she was going to befriend this Fennec fox and help him with predators that would try and eat him. Basically she would act as his body gaurd since she was a kind creature despite her hunger she was not gonna eat the nice fox or at least he seemed nice.

ic. That smile on her lips made him wince, sandy legs shaking even more vigorous as he stood there longer with the large lioness. Also, her pointed, white teeth strike fear into his heart, causing it to stop for a second and then pump faster than before. He was still frozen stiff. No ideas came to his mind, only the one thought of becoming lunch for the feline popped up. His breathing shorten and golden ears perked at her giggle. Why is she laughing? Is it because he knew he was a goner? Or she was just crazy?
"Pfft may as well eat a rabbit. I am not gonna eat you. Unless you want me to eat you."
Those words relived him from his tense stance a shake with his head indicating 'no' to Kiara's last last statement. He wanted to chuckle at it, but was still terrified, especially when she cut the space between her and himself. Even when laying down, she towered the small fox. "Are you r-really not going to eat me?" he shuddered, giving a big gulp at the end. "Or are you toying with me?" He started to regain his courage and cocky personality back when the lion rolled on her spine. She did seem harmless, but that's what predators want you to think.
When she asked for rabbits, the faint image of them getting ripped to shreds made his stomach twist. "Um.. there are some, but haven't seen them yet. Hehe.." he lied a bit so that way he wouldn't be a backup snack though she said she cope with it. Kiara could be lying.
"Ok, foxy fox. Here's the deal. You help me, I'll help you. Sounds good?"
What type of help? Help in giving himself up as a sacrifice? Hah. Not today sister. "First of all, the name is Shomari. Not foxy fox. Secondly, why help you out? You could easily turn on me," he remark, his sarcastic and rude tone returning. "And lastly, I could easily run away since I am more fit, leaving you here to get lost and die. I see more pros for myself when not helping you out compare to actually partnering up with you, pussy-cat." He smirked when finished, teal eyes narrowing as he pace himself in place as if he was going to run if she tried anything.

Kiara was still on her back when the Fox began to speak She rolled her eyes she had no clue why she was reasoning with this puny fox she was bigger faster and maybe a little more fierce than he was she could easily slap him knock him out and have him for dinner. "Oh geez i wonder" she remarked "I said i wasn't going to eat you but at this rate i am tempted to." she was getting hungry and this fox wasn't helping in the least "Oh so you don't know where rabbits are and you live here?" Kiara was good at seeing through lies but she just played along "Too bad for me"
She rolled over and sat down again towering above him. The fox was obviously not a good negotiator she listened to the fox her eyes narrowed and her happy peaceful, nice mood completely gone she wondered why this fox was acting bigger than he was. "Ok Shomari" she half mocked "You are right i could turn on you but i guess since i am one of the meanest creatures on earth at the moment!" she said firmly reminding him of animals that aren't as merciful as she is "SECONDLY" she snapped "you could run away leaving me to die but i could catch up with you in just a few bounds and gobble you down" she said lashing the sand in front of him "But you are smaller than how you speak i will find something MORE worthy in helping me than a feenic fox that puts himself before others" she raised her gigantic paw in a treating gesture to scare him then slowly put it down "Now if you don't mine Mr. congeniality I'll leave you for the buzzards to eat i have of no use for you" she stood up turned around so the fox was looking at her tail lightly slapped with her tail if she had slapped him with her paw she would have killed him so she slapped him with her tail hopping she knocked him over and walked off a good distance. sat back down her back still turned eying the horizon for something to eat and hoping the fox would have a change of heart.
She was also bewildered that he would be so rude when she approached him as if he was another giant cat, she approached the small thing with kindness and he was rude to her he needed to be taught a lesson and hopefully Kiara had done just that.
At the first scent of rabbits she bounded of toward them and snatched them of the ground there where several but she had managed to get two she ate one and took the other to shomari to show him she meant no harm to him "Next time," she told him "When some one approaches you with kindness and treats you nicely you don't act like you are all tough after showing fear, at least try to be kind back" again she turned her back to him

ic. His golden paws kept trotting on the golden sand, awaiting for any suspicious movements that the one big cat would dare to make. If she did, he would bolt off to any den he could find to escape her wrath that Shomari decided to put her in. Hopefully, he would dive into an abandon one. He wasn't willing to jump into one that holds a poisonous snake or animals of some kind.
Feeling her cast her shadow on him with her colossal feline form, his cheeky grin had melted away. Her mocking tone pissed him off, but he couldn't complain; he was giving her an attitude when putting down her offer. Maybe he should have just went with it instead of having Kiara scold him like a mere kit. 'SECONDLY!' He winced at her sudden change in voice, his teal gems weakly staring up at her. 'You could run away leaving me to die, but I could catch up with you in just a few bounds and gobble you down.' She had a point... Shomari forgot how fast lions are though he never saw one run, only hearing stories on how they can chase a big antelope with no sweat.
When Kiara's paw rose, he ducked really low to the shimmering sand grains, breathing in sharply, awaiting for any pain to be inflicted on him. Luckily, the merciful lioness replaced her huge paw back on the ground, a loud sigh of relief released from Sho's mouth. Teal pools watched as she got up and walked away. He thought he was home free until he felt her scuffed tail whacking him. He stumbled to his side and shook his head from the knock, rattling his brain around to regain sight and thoughts.
'What the hell man!' he wanted to shout at her, but learning from the previous conversation they had, he held his tongue in. A bit of guilt was now washing over his small bodice, except, his cockiness kept it from changing his mind in apologizing to the kind stranger, Kiara. And of course, that same animal handed him a rabbit, one she didn't need to catch nor share with the fennec fox. He grumbled loudly in his throat, the guilt re-surfacing inside him. Shomari thought to, no, had to say it.
With the smallest voice he ever spoke in, he replied back. "Sorry... and thanks..." Hopefully the lioness heard his words so he wouldn't have the need to repeat that cursed line.

Kiara was still a little angry at the fox but she also understood thinking that sometime fear got the better of animals she wasn't going to bring up her friend a mountain lion named Gil whom she had saved and they were both exiles from a previous pride of lions. She knew he was most likely scared hence why she didn't knock him out when she raised her paw earlier and just knocked him over with her tail. After she gave him the rabbit and her mumbled an apology and said thanks she nodded and answered "It's ok" she had already finished the rabbit she caught for herself. "I guess i understand though so i can't blame you" she said "Sometimes it really sucks to be a big animal cause smaller ones are scared" she yawned and stretched out "You're lucky you so small" Kiara liked smaller animals and thought they were luck because they could fit in smaller areas and get shade.
Kiara finally stood up to lave the little fox she had met "If you don't want to help me get outta here that's fine I'll just have to figure it out my self" she said "and that cocky attitude" she said "Don't lose that it will come in handy sometime" she figured he knew that but she said that any way "Do you want to help me or am I on my own?" she asked still standing ready to leave

ic. Twisting his furry face in a disgusted look, he couldn't believe he thanked someone, let alone, apologized. Those words left a nasty taste in his mouth, but, at the same time, a good feeling. He knew the feeling was from being guilt-ridden. The weight on his shoulders were taken off and made him light as a feather, the pressure of being eaten alive ceasing, however, still lingering since he doesn't know if she took them to her heart.
"It's ok."
Those words washed over Shomari with a warm shiver down his spine. He was so damn lucky that Kiara accepted his apology. He couldn't help, but sigh in relief. When she continued, he nodded to her and smiled cocky somewhat. He just realized he's having a conversation with a full grown lioness. One that could gobble him up. The male had to chuckle at the fact.
Then when she called him lucky for being small, he scoffed at her words. Lucky! Phfft. Not at all. "I don't know where you got that idea of wanting to be small, but I will switch with you. I rather be feared then be fearing myself. I wouldn't have a worry in the world!" his voice vibrated with excitement, a tail flickering in pleasure. He started to prance around in a stuck up attitude, his nose up in the air, mimicking a cocky larger animal while his small paws pressed against the golden grains with dignity.
He stopped and listen to her next words, nodding in agreement. Before speaking, he bowed by lowering his crown low, and gave a wink at the compliment of him keeping the attitude he grew up on, even though if it wasn't meant as it. "Of course I'll lead you on out. I know my way through the desert and never got lost once!" His tone seem so happy about escorting a colossal lioness around the place even if she was one that could turn on him. "But, we are buddies. In return of showing you out, I'll stay with you for protection. Mm?"

Kiara looked at Shomari when he began to speak he did have a point to Kiara had almost nothing to worry about but he on the other hand was east prey for bigger animals such as herself. She watched as he mimicked the bigger animals trying to stand tall and walking around this made the lion chuckle it was almost as if the full grown fox turned into a kit. Well at least she wouldn't have to worry about getting lost in the dessert. when the small fox finished prancing about he bowed his head and winked kiara wasn't a queen of any pride but she didn't mind this at all.
Shomari spoke again and that comment put Kiara in a good mood he was going to help her but she had to protect him in return and he was going to stick with her for a while She didn't mind that either all Kiara had to do was keep herself from eating him out of sheer hunger easy enough. "Ok you can stay with me" she replied "But be fully aware that I have no intentions of staying here," she said "So if you want me to protect you forever" she paused hoping that wasn't true "You'll have to follow me that is IF i leave" she hoped that was going to be ok with the fox.
After Kiara said her part she was ready to go "ok where to first?" she asked flicking her tail back and forth.

ic. Raising his small crown, teal eyes enlighten to hear her accept the offer. It was pretty quick answered and Shomari didn't mind. Most animals would think twice, but the fennec fox doesn't think that Kiara would harm him. The worst she can do is just leaving him behind while being attacked by anything more threatening than herself. He would be used as a sacrificed, in that case. Shivers were sent down his spine, except, was immediately shook off.
"Phffft. Don't worry. I don't like it much here either," he agreed, prancing around the large feline. "There's barely any shade, water, or anything to eat, except a few mice, scorpions, snakes, and in this case, rabbits," he said, poking his meal with his nose. He snapped it up in his mouth and went back to trotting, but instead encircling the lioness, Shomari started to go off to his left. He tripped a couple of times from his large meal, however, he didn't let go of it.
"First things first, we should go to the watering hole. We have a while before making it out of this hell," ordered the male though it came out in a mumble, golden grains shining the light onto his paws and face. He practically matched the grounds, but he kept his tail up so that way his camouflage wouldn't lose the lioness's sight.

Kiara listened to the fox intently and she stared at him he looked as if he was thinking again and after a minuted he shook himself off then he spoke He confirmed that he didn't like it in the burning desert either since food and water was scarce. He poked the rabbit Kiara caught for him and snatched it up walking away and shortly after wards he tripped that made Kiara chuckle some of the thing SHomari did was fairly amusing and weird like when he prances around her, that puzzles her why does he do that anyway? she thought but just ignored it, Sho hung on to his rabbit and pranced off in another direction with his tail high in the air
Kiara knew he didn't want her to lose sight of him but it that happened she would have to use her ken nose to track him down but in the mean time she would stay with him. she followed him up to where he was and walked next to him and he mumbled she could bar;y make out hat he had said so Kiara just nodded and said Ok. after a while the sun began to set and Kiara's Shadow practically shaded Shomari. "so when do you plan to head out?" Kiara asked as they walked.

ic. The small, but confident male dog trotted lightly in the golden grains, his toes wriggling any sand that happen to fit inbetween. The sun was getting ubearly hot now, however, Shomari was rather at comfort since this tempature was the daily degrees it has always been. He felt like he was under a blanket most of the times. The sun's blazing rays make him a bit hazy at times.
Swerving a bit to his right, he noticed he was dozing out. He shook himself awake, his teeth clenching on his meal to have the taste of blood fill his mouth in attempt to keep him up. He chuckled nervously, having the feeling Kaira noticed his act, but he kept going on with what little pride he had left.
"So when do you plan to head out?"
Her shadow engulfed his small form, which enlighted the male dog. The turbulent mind register the question into the slow brain of his, lips prusing out in a thinking expression, though the meal made him look funny. "Well, I was thinking... maybe when it gets cooler. Sunset? Around there? We do have a few hours, four to be exact," he told the lioness. "I don't mind hanging at the watering hole til then. There might be some mice there to chase!" Shomari gidded with happiness, prancing around.

She sniffed the air and she could smell the water close by but pretended to be oblivious to the water they were approaching. "how much further" she said, she was getting thirsty and hopefully not much further to the water she remained quiet for a while, not much to say when you are walking through the dessert to a water hole and following a fox that most lions would have eaten for lunch is a lion saw her right now she might call her a disgrace but she didn't care at all she was perfectly fine were she was. Right now al she wanted to do was get out of the dessert.

ic. Still trotting, he heard about Kiara's napping instead of chasing mice, a frown bestowed on his lips. "What? Why nap!? Chasing mice is the best, and its filling!" he whined in trying to make her change her mind. If she doesn't, he has multiple ways of dragging her into his petty little games. He is a sly fox of course, so why not?
Seeing her flaring nostrils, he took in a big smell, sensing the water hole coming closer. "Obviously, you know, Kiara. You can sense the water hole before me!" he complimented rudely, his skipping changed into a jog. He eventually picked up his speed into a mid-sprint, kicking up small sand grains like dust. He knew the lioness can out run him, but how about a head start?
He chuckled in his mind when coming closer to the cooler area, feeling the air temperature drop a few degrees. Imagine the refreshing feel of water. That idea sprang up, his little body jolting quicker in attempt to beat the lioness and to be the first in the water. He always has to make things a competition..

Kiara walked by Shomari "what why a nap?!" he asked sounding like a complaining cub, Kiara chuckled remembering cubs she babysat and them complaining when she told them 'no' he reminded her of that then he whined the the noise sounded like a whining puppy "If i try and chase mice," Kiara said "I might squash them" she snickered "especially blind mice" Kiara joked she nodded "I prefer to chase vultures" that was amusing watching vultures fly off squawking angrily and just fluttering back down when she left thinking the danger passed. He sniffed the air after she did "Obviously, you know, Kiara. You can sense the water hole before me!" he said almost rudely she narrowed her eyes at him and muttered "small fox with a big attitude"
The air cooled off slightly and Shomari bounded off, Kiara huffed and followed catching up in only a few strides she then fell behind and ran leaping over him head and running in front of him she turned her head and laughed it was funny watching a fox racing a lion but she didn't go very fast. the next thing she knew she feel and a cold sensation came over her body she flew out of the water "HOLY BAJESUS THAT WAS COLD!!!" She wailed her ears flat, tail low and her fur was soggy making her look like a wet rat no doubt the fox would find this rather humorous when he caught up..

ic. Of course by facts and research, a lioness can out run the little fox like it was an easy jog in the morning. However, this one thought he could out run the gigantic creature. His shorts legs can out match the long ones of a lion. Or his little sprints could against a lioness' gallop. Unfortunately for the competitive and hugely egotist Fennec fox, he was easily surpassed, seeing the form of Kiara leaping over him and into the water.
Except, he didn't expect her reaction of the water to be very majestic and refrain like the species of a lioness. Bursting out in laughter, he skidded and feel on his spine, curling into a ball of giggles and fits. He choked a couple of times from the lack of oxygen, but he did regain her capacity to breath once again.
"You look like a freaking drown rat! This is too good!" he laughed out, legs shaking and having trouble holding up the chuckling one's body. When finally stopping, he still snickered while coming to Kiara, his body springing into the water behind her. Ka-plosh! There is little form submerged into the cool liquid, his body shivering at the cool sensations rising up his spinal chord. He too had the same reaction.
"SWEET BABY JESUS! IT IS COLD!"

Kiara narrowed her eyes at Shomari when he burst into and uncontrollable laughter "geee thanks" she growled "I had no intention of jumping in, mongrel" she muttered under her breath and watched as he jumped into the water himself he soon came flying out"SWEET BABY JESUS! IT IS COLD!"He screamed and Kiara laughed at him "OH MY GOD and you said I looked like a rat you animals would pay millions to see you!!" she bellowed his face was priceless as well he looked like he just saw a ghost and that same ghost walked right through him, ah bitter sweet life. As soon as Kiara gathered herself back together after having a good laugh at the fennec fox and he having a good laugh at her she laid down though the sand was uncomfortable on the skin on her wet belly so she stood back up shaking off any grains that clung to her wet pelt.
"Ok Mr. High and Mighty," Kiara said looking at the soaking shomari "where are the rats i have to do something until I dry and standing for two hours isn't one of them." She pounced on one skittering by but as she predicted accidentally squashed it "oops," she muttered "did you want mouse stew or boiled rat?" she asked shomari snickering when looking at him.
