The mountains. The mere word sent shivers up the spine of the solitary eagle. He hated it there, the snow, the temperatures, the heights, the snow, the maze like qualities, the snow, and of course the snow. It could just be the snow that made Markku hate it. The snow was wet, very wet, and it was everywhere. It resided on the ground, in the trees, over lakes and ponds. These whole lands were engulfed in the snow. Another shiver ran up the eagle's spine, causing him to falter in his flight path. But he quickly recovered. Now it was time to avoid the snow and do what he came here to do.
Markku had been flying by himself for awhile ago. Just a week ago he was in the Savanna, relaxing and enjoying the heat... The thought caused a coo to erupt from his ebony beak. What he would do now to get out of these freezing temperatures and just sit in the sun. He would take heat over this any day of the week. Markku had just flown from Yucante Rainforest to here. The rainforest was his favorite place, mainly because his favorite and most filling prey resided there. His stomach grumbled at the thought of food, especially monkey, and then roared in anger. He couldn't remember the last time he ate, he was doing fine until he came into this terra. He only wished he had the same amount of experience here as he did everywhere else.
Markku continued to fly, dull green eyes squinting against the wind and snow. He was here, the place he hated almost more than the ocean, for one main reason. To check up on a friend. Yes a friend, that was all. It wasn't like they were mates or anything, nothing like that. Just friends, always will be, never anything more. That thought surged in his chest, but he brushed it off with a simple shrug. That's what he came here for, a friend. He just needed to tell himself that a couple.... thouasand... million more times and he would be set. Still, he would love to see her at the least.
Markku had been in these lands for near a day now, he hadn't stopped flying for that whole duration. He didn't know how to. He was afraid if he landed it would be in deep snow and he would fall right through. But he had a reason to jump to this conclusion, past experiences can be kinda helpful every so often. He let a sigh escape his ebony beak, why did these beast of a land how to be so big. The thought of getting lost caused him to shiver again, his body almost convulsing at the shake. Or maybe it was just extremely cold out. If he didn't die from starvation any second now, he was a hundred percent sure he would freeze in mid air and fall to his death. Another moment passed and another sigh emitted from his beak, this was going to be a long day.
Markku wasn't lost, there was no way he could ever be lost, he just needed to climb a little higher to get to where he was going... but he didn't climb any higher, instead ignored the request and stayed close to the ground. There was less wind and warmer temperatures closer to the ground. He was not in denial, he would never be. He knew exactly where he was going to get where he wanted to be. Yes, he knew exactly where. He just had to turn at the next rock formation, go through the trees and.... Oh who was he kidding, he was lost. Not that he'd ever admit it publicly. He let a shrill of a call escape his beak. He was getting tired and hungry.
The solitary eagle slowly got closer to the ground, descending as he pushed foreword. Eventually he was so close his stomach was rubbing against the snow and leaving a round trail behind him. He skidded to a stop, finding no point in proceeding foreword. His wings were spread against the ground, and his beak covered in snow. He quickly shook his crown, removing the snow that was engulfing his face. "Amynta..." He whispered carefully to himself as he lied there. Eyelids slowly covered his dull green eyes, and soon he found himself talking. "I'll just take a rest right here...... it's not like I'm lost...."
'Ever feel that burning sensation when your freezing cold? Isn't it interesting? That irony of burning while you freeze to death? That had to be a pretty DUMB way to die...'
OOC: Poor determined Markku, he don't need no directions! NEVA!! xD

AMYNTA;; I do not hook up;;
I've got too much talent .X. Amynta opened her eyes slowly, blinking remnants of sleep from her golden irises. She shook her head, eliminating any snow that had decided to blend in with her white crown. She hopped a little bit, bringing blood back into her feet. It felt so good to be home. The cold was something she had longed for the entire time she was in that stupid savanna. She was sure she was going to either starve or burn. She probably would have, if it wasn't for Markku. She stopped, her eyes narrowing angrily at herself. No. She would have been fine without him. He had nothing to do with her survival, and she could stop thinking about him any day now. It had been an entire week since she had last seen him, and she thought about him often. There was no way she was heading back to the scorching heat just to see him, though. Besides, he had probably already moved on. She nodded to herself, confirming her decision.
.X. But apparently he moved around an awful lot. Either that or she was seeing things, which she considered far more likely than the fact that the ruffled bird was actually here. She stretched her head out, the snow instantly falling on it when it was cleared from the rocky overhang that protected her. It was Markku! And right now, he looked none the better. In fact, he looked horrible. He was shaking and obviously frustrated. She shook her head. He shouldn't have come here. She knew he hated it, which left her no doubt he was here to search for her. The thought sent a pang through her chest, but she ignored it. She back up a few steps, falling back into her safe darkness. It wasn't like she couldn't see him anymore. Her eyes were sharp and built for seeing through the snow. When she saw him land, she knew he would be a goner if no one did something. She fluttered her wings hesitantly, reminding herself that he had, indeed, helped her in the savanna, and she would only be returning a favor.
.X. She pushed off the mountain and launched into the air, her wings flapping easily against the wind. She was used to working with the breeze, which was another thing she hated about the savanna. There was little to no wind there, and all the flying had to be done manually. She soared over to his body, leaning backward to land properly on a rock that stuck out of its mountain. She cocked her head in both directions, smelling the blood that beat through him. She hopped off her rock, her talons fighting for purchase in the snow. She stepped forward slowly, knowing the terrain well and how unpredictable it could be to handle. She dug her beak gently into the back of his neck, letting him know that she was there and not allowing him to jump up and attack her in his fright. She sighed into his feathers, feigning annoyance.
.X. "I told you you would do something dumb and die one day." She had meant it at the time, but now there was a teasing tone to her voice. She stepped back slightly to give him room to stand. "Did you just feel like a casual freeze, or are you here for some other reason?" She was fishing where she had no right to, and she knew it in the back of her mind. She shook thoughts away, narrowing her eyes as the wind picked up slightly. "You are going to freeze if you don't find shelter. Follow me." Without waiting for an answer either way, she launched her body into the air and headed back to where her nest sat, nestled safely within the mountain. There was a hole in the side of the giant rock, and she tucked in her wings to glide inside softly. It might be small, but it was big enough to stand and have the roof clear her head by a few inches. It was warm and free from snow and wind, so it was good enough for her. She didn't ask for anything more.

Markku was struggling to stay awake. At first the idea of sleep seemed like a good idea, but doubling over that he realized the last thing he needed now was to pass out on the ground in this foreign prey with animals much larger than he just waiting to come. But his will was weak, and he couldn't bring himself to actually stand, he felt like a lost cause. Another sigh erupted from his beak, he was screwed, in the simplest terms. Yet he still could not regret his decision to come his, his decision for companionship, his decision for her. He let a weak smile cross his ebony beak, it could be worse, he could be hallucinating.
A sudden pang to the back of his neck shot his eyes wide open, he was frozen so merely touching him would be like sticking him in an oven. He immediately classified the sudden shock as frost bite, and was this close to going back to his daze. But then a voice broke the silence. He knew who's vocals it was the moment it started. Markku turned his crown, making it so he could see the fem beside him. There she was in all her glory, so adapt to the area. He let a weak grin cross his beak. She had found him, well it couldn't have been that hard, he was probably the craziest thing to take flight in this area for ages. He could only hope she was not a figment of his imagination and he was dieing that very instant. That would suck.
Then the next question made him freeze, not breathing. He wasn't sure what to say. 'Oh ya, came up here to stalk you.' No, he couldn't bring himself to say it, it was too... different to say the least. "Near-death experiences never hurt anyone once and awhile." He said with a grin, a sarcastic and dry tone escaping his maw. He slowly rose to his talons, trying to get a steady grip. Once he was up he turned to her, and listened to her. He was going to freeze to death? Well he figured just as much, at least he got to see her one more time right? He shook his cranium, he had to stop. Its not like he was a lovebird or anything....right?
Markku nodded to her as she took off into the air, and with a new born will attempted to take off too, but only to fall smack on his face. He grunted as he spat out more snow, he hated the stuff. He quickly scrambled onto his talons, slipping and sliding, and then into the air, only to get a gush of wind at him. This place really hated him. He clanked his beak together roughly, causing a metallic like noise to escape. He didn't like the grudge the terra obviously had for him. Markku flew up to where Amynta went to and mirrored her actions to get in the cave. It was rather big, but small for two, and he had this random claustrophobic moment and a distaste for caves, not that he'd let her know that.
Markku glanced around the hole quickly, and then went back to Amynta with a smile on his face. He shivered once more and felt like rolling on the ground to dry himself off, he resisted though. Instead he kind of stared for a moment, straight into her eyes. He quickly caught himself and shook his crown once more. "Nice... uh... cave you got Amynta." He said as sincere as he could. He never was one for placed to sleep, he'd usually just find a tree or ledge. "So, how have you been?" Markku said trying to fill the awkward silence that would happen if he didn't.

AMYNTA;; I do not hook up;;
I've got too much talent .X. Amynta allowed a laugh to escape her beak in disbelief as she watched him try to take off with his damp feathers. She wouldn't let him see her laugh, though. She shook her head and back further away to allow him room. When he complimented her cave, she couldn't help but give him a sly smirk. She wasn't born yesterday. She knew how much he hated this place just by watching him. His eyes were swimming with distaste and he was still shivering. She stepped closer to him, throwing her wings out to the side and trying to share her heat with him. He had come all the way out here just to see her, and it was the least she could do. Maybe she was just warming up to him. Either way, she felt like she had to do something. She told herself that watching someone die in front of her would permanently scar her, so she was just avoiding a lifetime of distraught memories. There. Now she had her excuse and she could be happy with her actions.
.X. She tilted her head at him she she scooted closer, letting their feathers mesh. She shivered slightly at the chill his body emitted, but shook it off. "I bet you miss your heat pretty bad right about now," she snickered. It felt awkward to be this close to a male. Her mind was screaming at her to fight him, to kick him out of this place and chase him until the mountains ended. It was her usual reaction to males coming around. It was something that would take a long time to swallow down, but for once she was willing to attempt it. She wondered if he would be willing to stick around while she fought herself. She knew it wouldn't be easy. She didn't believe in love, so that wasn't what she would term this. Far from it, in fact. She could call it...a cordial acquaintanceship. There. Another excuse, and the problem was solved. She seemed to be full of excuses lately. It was hard to function without them.
.X. She sighed, feeling her mind start to overreact to his proximity. She had to focus on something else, or she would end up leaving him here and then not ever returning. That would be...bad. She blinked slowly, her brain fluttering madly as she tried to think of something to say to cover the silence. She hated conversation. Her eyes shot open in surprise when Markku beat her to the punch, and she relaxed slightly as he covered a mundane but safe topic. "I've been home, embracing the cold and eating," she teased, naming the exact opposite of everything that had happened at the savanna. When she spoke of food, a spark lit her eyes. "Speaking of which, I'm assuming nothing around here was dumb enough to be caught by you. Do you need something?" It was great for her to be able to subtly insult people. It made her feel more comfortable with the situation, and she relaxed more. This wasn't going to be so bad after all.
.X. Amynta cleared her throat and pulled away from him slowly. She couldn't feel him shiver anymore, but wasn't sure if she had warmed him or if he was simply hiding it. Either way, she felt pleased with herself. She preened her chest for a moment before heading to the back of her cave. A few fish laid in a pile there; they had stopped wriggling a long time ago, but were still reasonably fresh. She tilted her head at them, trying to pick one with her sharp eyes. The one on the bottom seemed the most fresh, so she snatched it up with her beak and waddled back over to Markku. She dropped it in front of him with another smirk. "Fish may not be your thing, but kangaroo rats weren't mind. You gotta eat to live, tough guy." She resisted winking at him, but just barely. God, what was happening to her? She wasn't like this, ever. Something bad was occurring in her mind and heart, and it was starting to scare her.

Markku was surprised when she came over and sat beside him, touching. He wasn't sure on how to take the situation, did she do it cause he was freezing to death, or for something more. Oh if only he could read people better. Her warmth was relaxing, and he felt kind of dazed from it. He resisted the need to coo as his temperature got warmer and he began to defrost. Oh how he wished he was in a desert of something, he always had a knack for taking higher temperatures over colder ones. It wasn't long until she responded to his question, in fact it was almost like she was waiting for it and immediately replied. It seemed to him like she was warming up to his company.
Markku grinned at her response, she seemed to be in the exact opposite position as he was and she was a week ago. The sudden mention of food, however, made his stomach growl and roar in plead. Then she offered him food, probably catching on to the earthquake his stomach was causing. He gave a quick nod, pecking at the residue snow he had on his wings. "It'd probably be easier if all the animals didn't blend in with the snow." He said grinning. His first encounter with prey was when he fly over it, without noticing, and gave it a heart-attack. It jumped away quickly, and Markku was completely lost. Hares should not be white. He wasn't too happy when she left his side, but it wasn't just because of the warmth. He stopped and shook his crown, again. This was becoming more than a habit for the eagle.
Markku watched her walk over to the end of the cave, and come back with something. He looked at it with examining eyes. Fish. He looked back up to her with his dull green eyes when she commented on the food. He let a light chuckle out, he could tell she was playing around. His eyes went back down to the meal in front of his talons. He was fine with fish... so long as they were smaller than him and didn't like the taste of bird, but he did prefer mammal. He bent down, and in one fluid motion slurped up the fish and swallowed it whole. He flashed a grin toward Amynta. "Hakuna Mattata." His stomach was immediately pleased, and it's roars of hunger heeded. He nodded to her as thanks, still grinning.
Markku let his glance fall to the mouth of the cave and outside. It did actually look pretty amazing, as long as you weren't dying from it. His eyes were filled with amazement as he watched the snow fall, maybe that's why she loved this place. "This place is really beautiful..." He looked back to her, a soft smile across his ebony beak. He had to resist the urge to say the same about her, and add to the awkwardness he already felt. "How long have you lived here?" He was curious, it seemed to him she was one with the land here.

AMYNTA;; I do not hook up;;
I've got too much talent .X. She couldn't fight a sudden smile at his carefree lifestyle as he slurped down the fish. She fluttered her wings, as was a habit for her, and stepped closer toward him. His question made her stop, though. Now he was delving into her history. A red flag went up in her mind, and no matter how hard she tried to fight it down she couldn't quite make it vanish. She was a very private bird, to the point where it was hard for her to converse with someone much less give them personal details. She would never understand how anyone did it as long as she lived. She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to envision the last time she had spent this much time with one person. Other than her mother, nothing came to mind. When she reopened her eyes, Markku looked slightly settled in and was glancing at her with a curious expression. She sighed to herself and took another step back. Was there an easy way to get herself out of this?
.X. A thought came to mind, and she grasped it immediately. "I think the better question is what are you doing around here. I might not know much about you, but I do know you don't like the cold. Where do you spend most of your time?" Amynta was aware that her words were slightly hurried and more than a tad breathless, but she was getting desperate. It was getting harder and harder to fight the urges that told her she needed to fly away and not look back. He had first invaded her mind, and now he was invading her space too. No one else had ever gotten this close to knowing her, and it was scary. She couldn't open up like other people. He could find much better friends if he went home and searched, she was sure. But he had said he didn't really have a home. She flinched at the memory. He sounded much like her father, but maybe that was giving her paternal figure too much credit. Markku was much better than that eagle had ever been.
.X. Amynta tried to distract herself by picking at some of the feathers on her side and back. With her neck craned away from him, she wouldn't have to see the confusion in his eyes that she had avoided the question. It was bad enough she had told him where she lived and what her name was. That was personal enough for only knowing him as well as she did. No! That was personal enough for all of time. She didn't have to tell him anymore, because she wasn't born to entertain him. He could find some other young, obnoxious fem that would do that, Amynta was sure. She was older than him, or at least more mature. Much more mature. She could be his mother, for goodness' sakes. He seemed like he needed one, at the very least. But she wasn't going to cater to him on some whim that her mind shot at her. Maybe she should have listened to her instincts all that time ago and just flown away the minute she had met him.
.X. But she couldn't stop thinking about all the fun she would have missed.

Markku gave a smile when the question backlashed. Now it was his turn to be questioned. He didn't take it personally, heck he wasn't offended by much these days. But he could help but tilt his head quizzically at her. He was in fact curious about her, but she always seemed to reject him whenever he asked much of anything. He was fine with it, she shouldn't be forced to tell him anything, no matter how intrigued he might get, or how bad he wants to know. She had her reasons and he would just have to respect them, even if they were silly or weird. He placed his cranium straight up again, realizes he kind of dazed off. Well she didn't seem to mind much from what she was doing. He quickly thought back to the question, readying his answer.
Markku wasn't too sure how to put it actually, he hadn't felt this way before, well at least he doesn't remember anything of the sort. He shuffled his wings again, picking the right words. It took him awhile, but he figured that he was making a big deal out of nothing. He wasn't too sure on much, but he just decided to tell her in the simplest terms possible. It's not like he wasn't telling the truth, right? Shrugging the question off, he responded to her."Well I'm here to see you." He stated simply, a smile forming on his ivory and ebony visage. He ruffled his feathers once more, quickly and immediately returned to his original statue like position. He let his dull emerald orbs fall to the ground and back outside to the snowy place. He was actually quite fascinated by this place now. What was that saying again?
'Every rose has it's thorn.'
Markku agreed with that. Beauty always comes with a price. He nodded to the terra, almost forgiving it for the hardships it threw at him. He quickly rolled the thought, and his eyes, to Amynta. It worked for her too, something must've been bugging her about the past. He flashed another smile, decided to finish off what he started. "Make sure your okay and not starving or anything." He chuckled at the end, bringing back the memories of their first time together just a week back. His light chuckle ended as he finished his thought. "I'm kidding, I know you can handle yourself. Don't gnaw my head off now." Markku said in a playful tone, chuckling at the end. Company was nice, at least for him it was.
OOC: Markkus all 'thinky-think' now ^^;;

AMYNTA;; I do not hook up;;
I've got too much talent .X. Amynta felt her body become less tense when he didn't comment on her avoidance of such a simple question. She cooed in remembrance of their time, and clacked her beak at his next words. She realized he was joking, though, and let it slide. Just like she had let slide the fact that he was here to see her. The thought made her shudder, and not in a bad way. No one had ever come to visit her before. It was...different. But different wasn't always bad, was it? She clicked her beak a few times the way a newborn chick might, and then she cocked her head to the side and blinked at him. He was very open, and it was a mystery to her. Hadn't he ever been hurt by anyone? It felt too personal a question to ask, so she kept her razor sharp beak closed over it. She would have to come up with something else to say.
.X. It wouldn't be too hard, the way he talked like he did. She nodded her head slowly, as if reluctant to part with the answer. "Nah. I could never starve up here. It's my home. You should find one sometime," she teased. "Maybe then you wouldn't be floundering about in the mountains chasing down some random fem you met a week ago. Pretty desperate if you ask me." She had started off teasing, but felt her eyes harden slightly toward the end as her voice took on a serious lilt. She hadn't meant to sound so serious...she supposed she just wanted extra confirmation that he was, in fact, chasing her down to visit with her. The idea was so foreign and out there that she felt she couldn't possibly have heard him correctly. She clicked her beak a few more times, well aware it was a nervous habit and one she needed to stop doing before he found out that she was nervous because of him. There was no need to inflate his head anymore than it already was.
.X. She watched as he glanced at toward the snow, falling harder than ever now. He had to be glad just to be inside, and the thought made her chuckle quietly to herself. The poor thing would never last out there. She could only imagine what would happen to him if he were forced out into the horrible weather that was like a second skin to her. She was born and raised in the mountains. Sure her childhood wasn't great, but this sort of weather never failed her the way other things had. She had started to see the harsh winds and cold snow like a friend, almost, as crazy as it sounded. Something that wasn't living would never let her down the way people did. She huffed at the thought, the feathers on her brown chest poofing a bit. She smoothed them down with her beak, avoiding eye contact for the time being. There was no need for him to think she was showing off to him.
.X. Because she wasn't. No, sir. Wouldn't happen in a million years. He was just some silly male, after all.

Markku couldn't help but to catch on to some of the movements she was making. It was like she was itchy or nervous. He couldn't really tell himself, he didn't have much of an attention span to try and figure it out anyway. Plus he shouldn't be trying to anyway, he'd be digging, and he knew how much she hated that. He looked back out of the cave, his dull greens eyes still admiring the scenery. He felt the urge to just get out and fly around, but he knew that wouldn't happen too well. He could imagine himself being beating up by the wind, falling from the sky, and drowning in the snow. Maybe that was slightly morbid, not many envisioned their own death, he sighed. Insanity could not grasp the concept of this crazy eagle.
Markkus attention went back to Amynta when she spoke. He had the habit of giving her his full attention whenever she needed it, bit that that was necessarily a bad thing. She commented on his lifestyle, and he chuckled. Ya he was different, but he liked being different. It was fun. "If I did have a home I wouldn't be able to emotionally scar many others, would I? I like showing off what a reject I am, it''s fun." He chuckled lightly after, it was true. He quickly finished off his sentence, leaving almost no gap. "Plus, could you even imagine me staying in one place to long? If you think I'm already insane imagine worse!" He flashed her a grin, speaking in the same playful tone he had before. He had to, she did tease him in the first place, what's a little retaliation got against anybody?
Markku sighed after, letting his chuckle spree come to an end. He gave outside a wise look, scanning the terra. Still smiling, and without actually looking at her this time, he responded to her latter part of her statement. "Guess I'm a pretty desperate eagle then, eh?" He said, ending the statement with a rhetorical question. He let another sigh escape his beak. He was at a loss for words, he didn't want to ask her anything so he sat there and admired the snowy wonderland in front of him. His thoughts raced to the future, or at least the near future. The first question was how was he getting back to the good 'ole lands without freezing to death before getting there? He could only hope that when she kicked him out the winds would be on his side.

AMYNTA;; I do not hook up;;
I've got too much talent .X. The teasing quality of his voice took any edge off of Amynta's mood. She felt that she could snap and say whatever she wanted and he would forgive her in a heartbeat. The feeling made her squirm a bit more, but she forced herself to sit still and admire the snow with him. Except, he probably wasn't admiring it, she thought wryly. He must be wondering how he was going to get home. To be quite honest, she was wondering that same thing. It seemed impossible to just let him fly off into this by himself. He might have gotten here on purpose, but getting out was a different matter. With all the blinding snow and the heavy winds, he was not equipped whatsoever to leave this place. With a heavy sigh, she realized the only option left was helping him out. The thought wasn't as bad as she had thought it would be. Shrugging to herself, she turned to survey him for a moment.
.X. It still amazed her that he had risked his life and his comfort to come out here and see her. It made no sense to any part of her mind, but almost nothing he did made sense so she could let it slide. What was one more thing on his record of insanity? But this was something deeper. You didn't go out of your way and possibly into harm's way just to see a friend. You did that if it was your last option, or if you were heading home. Maybe, and she stressed the maybe, you would do it to meet someone you loved. But Markku didn't love her, and she certainly didn't love him. She would just have to settle for being confused. She hated the feeling it made her feathers stand on end. She picked at a few loose ones with her beak and pulled them out, releasing them to the wind and watching them fly. Seeing her feathers fly without her was odd.
.X. She couldn't think of anything she could say to Markku. That was becoming a repeated problem that she had to do something about. She blinked slowly, letting the cold settle into her skin and freeze her. It felt good to just sit still like a statue sometimes, and not have to worry about flight patterns or anything of the matter. Sometimes, you just had to relax. This couldn't be one of those times. She couldn't possible relax with Markku right there. Huffing to herself, she turned to look at him with one eye. He didn't seem to be moving at all. "How long are you staying?" There. That wasn't exactly rude. It might have been a bit candid, but it didn't matter. He could deal. He had come all this way to see her, and he would get what he came for. Maybe if he decided he didn't like her, he would leave her alone and she could be at peace.
.X. Maybe Markku was her peace.

Markku stared deep at the snow, trying to guess how animals even survived here. He could just imagine a new born pup or cub being around to leave the safety of dens in fear of drowning. Even eaglets must have a hard time, he thought to himself as he stared into the white abyss. He let a sigh escape his ebony beak, his dull green eyes watching a snow flake every time it would fall. Pure fascination in the knowledge that no two snow flakes looked alike. Just the thought of all the snowflakes and their differences made him think. Even if he tried all day he would never be able to design as many as were created. These lands were different than what he originally experienced it as, or maybe because she was with him he was more open and accepting of things, even the terra. The Bengin Mountains; Such a beauty. Such a monster.
Markku glanced over to Amynta for a moment, catching her plucking out feathers. He watched her throw them out of the cave, to where the wind and other elements controlled. His dull emerald eyes watched the brown feathers get thrashed around in the air. He winced slightly at the violence. Markku wasn't one to rely on the wind too much, he actually usually fights against the wind. He likes those places that are warm with nice, calm, non-death causing winds. Soon the feathers got pulled out of his view, scaling high into the sky, probably never to be seen again. With nothing else to gain from that but how strong the wind was he gulped. The thought of making it out there alive was not on his mind, however, the thought of freezing to death was all he was thinking about at that moment. The thought sent shivers up his spine.
Markku glanced over to Amynta who seemed oddly quiet and still. He had never seen her like that before, he couldn't help but to stare for a moment with his dull green eyes. He caught himself and looked back outside with her, pretending he was not falling for her at all. He snapped his beak twice, clearing the silence that was in the air. "Do you want me to leave?" He asked her, his voice deep and monotone. He wasn't sure what was on her mind, and he wasn't sure if he would ever know. Maybe this was so awkward because he was the only one of the two who felt that way. He turned his head on axis, looking over to Amynta. "'Cause I can leave if you want me to. Come back another time maybe..." Markku heard himself saying, a smile on his beak. Maybe he just needed some time to think about other things than what he was feeling. Or maybe he needed to tell her right now this instant. He looked back outside, gulping hard. He rather leave than leave himself open to be killed from the inside.

AMYNTA;; I do not hook up;;
I've got too much talent .X. Amynta shook her head quickly, telling him she wanted him to stay without words. She didn't think she could use words like that right now. It was far too much of a stretch. Wasn't it? He was so close to her right now...couldn't she just reach out? He was there, waiting for her to make the first move. All she had to do was stretch out her neck and touch him, let him know there was hope left. Maybe if he thought there was the slightest chance that his actions weren't in vain, he would stick around. She found herself surprised that she wanted him to stick around. Maybe even needed it. She fished around for an excuse, coming up blank and left with nothing but blinks. She gulped.
.X. This was her chance. He was looking at her, his green eyes boring into her yellow ones. All she had to do was open her beak and speak. She clicked it a few times, almost testing to see if it would work should she need it to. She pulled back slightly, her brain working too hard to even comprehend. He couldn 't live here, and she couldn't picture herself living where there was heat and no wind. If they even decided to be together, one of them had a lot of adapting to do. It wasn't worth it. Was it? Shaking her head, she whispered to herself. "I don't understand..." Her eyes glazed over, and she was lost to the world. Pulling inside her head, she fought the images there.
.X. Images of abandonment, fighting, death, hurt, pain, and other unpleasant things. She had learned at a young age to associate all those with love. Was there something she had missed? She liked to think not. Denial wasn't just a river in Africa. She tried to shake off her haze, but confusion was a heavy cloud over her mind. She started to shake, and didn't even notice that she was leaning on Markku. Her brain felt like it was about to explode, and finally something in her snapped. She clacked their beaks together, looking him dead in the eye before she spoke. "I need you to stay." She blinked slowly, wondering how he would take this. Maybe she had misread everything.
.X. Or maybe she had just saved her own life.

Markku heart almost wretched itself straight out of his body when she spoke. She seemed so sad, so broken, so.... He didn't want to finish, all he knew is he felt an undeniable pang to his chest from her response. Had she really that much control over him? Was he no longer free, but in fact shackled by her. Yet he never felt so free before in all of his life. These strings of emotions were a lot on Markku, it was things he had never experienced in his life, and he wasn't one who changed easily. But he would and could for her. He looked back over to her, dull green eyes shinning. She looked so shocked. Another pang to his chest, had he been the one to cause this impenetrable wall to fall, and kill what behind. Had he broken her?
Markkus breathing got sharper, raspier, he didn't know what to do. Then, out of no where she was next to him, leaning tightly. He wasn't sure what was happening to her, but she looked like she was in pain and didn't like it one bit at all. He leaned his head on hers, letting out a small tune off the top of his head. It was harmonic yet droned, deep and strong. Then she started to shake, and he was breaking down on the inside, blaming himself for this. Pang after pang, he broke down. Pang after pang, he was engulfed in grief. Pang after pang, he realized he loved her. 'I need you to stay.', and that she loved him back.
Emotion.
That was all he could feel, this odd emotion. He couldn't describe it if his life was on the line. All he knew was that the emotion and feeling that was pulsing through his body he wanted to keep. He was complete.
Markku let his wing wrap around her as he tried to stop her from shaking. He didn't know what she had just gone through, and was not pleased at all with the outcome. He couldn't bare to see her hurt. He cooed quietly to her, almost like a whisper, trying to calm her down. He would do anything to help her... if he only knew what that anything was. He spoke without thinking, without analyzing, without anything. He just spoke. "I need you too..." He said deeply, his visage sincere. He didn't care about anything else in the world at that moment. She was his world.
'I loved you once, I love you still. I always have, I always will.'

AMYNTA;; I do not hook up;;
I've got too much talent .X. It was almost too much, this intense emotion flowing through her. From the way he leaned against her, she hoped he felt it to. Knew he did when he replied. It was funny how the feeling was almost too much, but at the same time she wanted more. The urge to fly away was even stronger now. God, what would happen if she did that? She would break him, surely, and just as surely he would follow her to the ends of the earth to ask her why she left. As much as she was beginning to...like...him ( she still couldn't bring herself to admit she was in love) she knew he couldn't stay here with her. They would have to find someplace in between; a place that had cold and hot days, windy and still days. Was there a place like that? Amynta wouldn't know, seeing as she never really got out. On the other hand, though, she knew someone who would.
.X. "Where can we stay," she questioned him quietly, her voice a controlled whisper. She couldn't find her normal voice. It seemed to have been taken away by the swirling winds outside. She blinked slowly, feeling Markku's warmth flow through her and leave her drowsy. She hoped he would know what she meant, but had little doubt. He had turned out to be much smarter than she had given him credit for when she met him. She was glad, inside, that she hadn't left him there. Who would have thought she would ever be thinking that? But here they were, a week later, leaning on each other and admitting that they were needed. Life has unexpected turns, apparently more than Amynta had ever realized. She had always laughed at people who said they were in love.
.X. Now she needed to send them a basket of treats.
.X. Ruffling her feathers, she felt them mash further into Markkus. It felt...weird. Different, but not unpleasant. Getting curious, she did it once more, cooing when it tickled. She snapped her beak shut immediately, realizing she sounded like a baby that had just been entertained. What a moron she felt like now, and she smoothed down her feathers. She blinked at the snow, refusing to meet his eyes, before missing that feeling. What was it? She fluffed her feathers again, cooing in delight as it tickled one more time. She couldn't stop giggling now, and even though she felt like a child, for once she let herself enjoy it. Markku was definitely changing her.

Markku was dazed, she was pressed against him and he felt... fuzzy to say the least. He didn't want to move, holding this position forever would be the best experience of his life. He had done a lot of things that made his heart falter: Sky diving, drowning, hanging upside down for too long, and of course dying in the snow. But this way was the best yet, and was going to be the best as far as the end of his life. Nothing could match this experience. He almost purred as she meshed closer, but was surprised to her her speak.
Markku almost didn't hear the question. Her voice was so soft, so alluring. It had none of the harshness that it usually contained. It was almost as though her vocals were laced in honey. He let a sigh catch on, almost forgetting the question. He snapped out his daze, replaying her question in his head. Where could they stay? He had a few ideas, but he didn't want to move her from her current home. She seemed so adapt to it. But then again he was sure she wouldn't be too happy to find his dead buried in the snow. He needed middle ground, a decent place that could work for the both of them. Two places came to mind; The Yucante Rainforest, and the Rand River. Both had the needs that would match them. He was about to mumbled them to her, but he caught himself. Something was on his mind, and he needed to let her hear it first, before anything. He wanted to know her reaction, and then he could plan for the future.
Markku cleared his throat and let his head return to it original place. He took a step back, and faced her, his dull green eyes ready to catch anything. "Amynta, we're rushing this." He stated, trying to calm himself down. "This is a lot in a very short time, I wouldn't blame you if you have doubts." Markku had a few himself, but he rather not mention them. He was trying to use reason in a world dictated by emotions. "If your not ready for this, I can wait. Don't ever kid yourself, do what you think is right." He started to breathe heavily, slightly panicking. He waited for her reaction, which would tell him all he needed to know. And if it came down to it, he would wait. "I will wait."

AMYNTA;; I do not hook up;;
I've got too much talent .X. When he spoke to her, her heart stopped. She shifted away from him, almost missing the end of his sentence. She only understood that he was rebuffing her strenuous efforts, telling her they were moving too fast and they needed to calm down. She choked on her breaths, seeing red then black cloud her vision. Her wings shot out from her and she tried to pull them back, but failed miserably. She felt almost as if she was seizing, like those sick animals who always got eaten. She felt as though, even though he had explained himself and told her he would wait for her, he was pushing her back slightly and saying he wasn't ready. After all her internal fights? After everything, he was just saying too bad let's back off? She huffed, pulling as far away from him as she could without exiting into the cold winds.
.X. Maybe thats what she would do. She was experienced with this weather, and there was no way he could track or follow her in it. He could try as hard as he wanted to, but he would never make it. His wings would freeze and he would plummet to the ground, or the wind would blow him sideways. The smartest thing he could do would be to stay here, in her home, until the weather calmed and then try his hardest to find her. Either way, she had a gallant head start, and he would be hard-pressed to find her. Her heart must be hardening again; her brain was hardly reacting to her own harsh statements. She knew, deep down, that if he died her heart died with him. He had stolen it, the ruffled thief. She let out a caw that filled the tiny cave, echoing in her ears and making her eyes water at the intensity.
.X. She snapped her beak near his face, lashing out and not being able to stop. She didn't hurt him...couldn't. At least not physically. There was one way to get back at him, though. She clacked her beak harshly. "I can't believe I fell for your little game!" Her voice rose like her wings, and soon she was flapping them around wildly as she screamed. "I believed you, and you totally threw me out onto the ground. Forget it, Markku. If you aren't ready you could have told me right away instead of dragging me along like some sick little rat." She snapped one last time, pushed off the rocky ground, and lifted into the winds. It took some time to find balance in the harsh screaming air, but once she had it nothing could stop her. She flapped wildly, crying as she pushed east. The wind helped carry her, five times faster than she had ever flown before.
.X. She didn't know where she was going. She just knew that she would stop only when she absolutely had to. Maybe she had misunderstood everything. Maybe he had been sincere, but what male could sound so sincere without faking it? Maybe it was her own fault, the little experience she had killing them both with her idiocy. She pushed harder, letting out a heartbroken caw to be carried in the wind. There were too many maybes, and not enough answers. She had done this, she had broken it, and Markku could do much better than her. She had broken his heart, and maybe he would find someone to fix it. Or maybe she had taught him the most valuable lesson of his life. There were still too many maybes. She closed her eyes against the wind and kept flying, determined to get out of here before he could follow.

Markku watched the display in front of him, not quite following. Than she snapped at his face, instinctively he pulled back, against the wall of the cave. Had he angered her? Then came the worst part. He froze at her words, not believing them at first. But the look in her eyes said it all. Had he said something wrong? Was he too generous on his offer? Or had she merely done this to hurt him? He wouldn't believe the last part. Whatever the problem he had probably started it. He had hurt her, and in return she had hurt him. Was that simply what love was? Hurting each other? Fighting? He didn't understand where he went wrong. She threw her wings open, and it was obvious what was going to happen. Yet still, he couldn't bring himself to accept the fact, the truth, and the future. "Amynta wait!" He cawed, throwing himself close to her in some last attempt to stop her. Instead he was bit, and hard.
The pain on his wing was quickly diminished and replaced with a new one. Amynta was flying away, and not with a reasonable accusation of what he had said. "AMYNTA!" He screamed, his voice reaching it maximum volume and echoing off the cave walls. He threw himself foreword, propelling himself out of the cave with his talons. He wouldn't lose her, not now, not ever. He tried to caw once more, but his throat dried up quickly, tears began to well up in his eyes, obscuring any vision he had left. He was losing her. A loud noise in the distance broke his heart. He knew who it was, and knew she was gone. It was too much at once. He felt his head become light-headed, he almost became drowsy. He shut his eyes tightly, letting the tears roll down his feathers. There she was, the one to build him up, and knock him down. The only problem was he already forgave her, he didn't care what pain was pulsing through his chest. He had forgiven her for destroying him, he could only dream she felt the same.
The wintry wind picked up, thrashing wildy at Markku, the large eagle being pushed up and down, left and right. He hissed. This land was doing what it could to stop him. He forgot all he said before about the terra, it was merely a treacherous land destined to kill. And kill it did, it allowed her to escape and leave him here alone. He was dead. Markku tried to pull himself out of the winds, steady himself, it was then when he realized the wing that had been bitten was not working. He crashed, folding over himself over and over into the snow, soaking himself to the bone. He could feel the cold creep through his feathers, past his skin, and nip at him. Yet he felt nothing. The dead cannot feel. He pulled himself to his talons, heart slowing down. His watery eyes looked up to where Amynta was, far off, disappearing from his sight, his life slowly leaving him. Through the numbness that was his body he whispered, hardly audible to himself. "I'll wait for you..."
'Love is giving someone the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to.'
Markku was destroyed.
